The Twilight Saga 3: Eclipse Chapter 27. NEEDS
I DIDNT GET VERY FAR BEFORE DRIVING BECAME IMPOSsible. When I couldnt see any more(prenominal), I allow my tires find the rasping shoulder and rolled slowly to a stop. I slumped over on the seat and allowed the weakness Id fought in Jacobs room crush me. It was worsened that Id melodic theme the hug of it took me by surprise. Yes, I had been right to becloud this from Jacob. No one should ever see this. unless I wasnt alone for very long just exactly long enough for Alice to see me here, and then the fewer minutes it took him to arrive. The door creaked open, and he pulled me into his arms.At first it was worse. Because there was that smaller break off of me smaller, precisely acquire louder and angrier either minute, screaming at the rest of me that craved a different set of arms. So then there was fresh guilt to season the pain.He didnt say anything, he just let me sob until I began to blubber out Charlies name. Are you in truth ready to go home? he asked doubtfull y.I managed to convey, after several attempts, that it wasnt going to get any better anytime soon. I exigencyed to get past Charlie before it got late enough for him to call Billy. So he drove me home for once non even getting close to my trucks internal speed limit keeping one arm imprisoned tightly around me. The whole way, I fought for control. It seemed to be a doomed effort at first, but I didnt give up. Just a few seconds, I told myself. Just time for a few excuses, or a few lies, and then I could break down again. I had to be able to do that much. I scrambled around in my head, searching desperately for a reserve of strength. on that point was just enough for me to quiet the sobs hold them covering fire but not end them. The tears didnt slow. I couldnt seem to find any handle to even begin to work with those.Wait for me upstairs, I mumbled when we were in front of the house. He hugged me closer for one minute, and then he was gone.Once in billet, I headed straight for the stairs.Bella? Charlie called after me from his usual place on the sofa as I walked by.I turned to look at him without disquisition. His eyes bugged wide, and he lurched to his feet. What happened? Is Jacob . . . ? he demanded.I shook my head furiously, nerve-racking to find my voice. Hes fine, hes fine, I promised, my voice low and husky. And Jacob was fine, physically, which is all Charlie was worried roughly at the moment. exclusively what happened? He grabbed my shoulders, his eyes withal anxious and wide. What happened to you?I must look worse than Id imagined.Nothing, Dad. I . . . just had to talk to Jacob about . . . some things that were hard. Im fine. The anxiety calmed, and was replaced by disapproval. Was this really the dress hat time? he asked.Probably not, Dad, but I didnt acquire any alternatives it just got to the point where I had to choose. . . . or sotimes, there isnt any way to compromise. He shook his head slowly. How did he handle it?I didnt answer. He lo oked at my face for a minute, and then nodded. That must have been answer enough.I hope you didnt mess up his recovery.Hes a quick healer, I mumbled.Charlie sighed.I could odour the control slipping.Ill be in my room, I told him, shrugging out from underneath his give.Kay, Charlie agreed. He could probably see the waterworks starting to escalate. Nothing scared Charlie worse than tears.I made my way to my room, blind and stumbling.Once inside, I fought with the clasp on my bracelet, trying to undo it with shaking fingers. No, Bella, Edward whispered, capturing my hands. Its part of who you are.He pulled me into the cradle of his arms as the sobs broke filly again. This longest of days seemed to stretch on and on and on. I wondered if it would ever end. But, though the night dragged relentlessly, it was not the worst night of my life. I took comfort from that. And I was not alone. There was a great deal of comfort in that, too.Charlies fear of emotional outbursts kept him from checki ng on me, though I was not quiet he probably got no more sleep than I did.My hindsight seemed unbearably clear tonight. I could see every mis suck in Id made, every bit of harm Id done, the small things and the big things. Each pain Id caused Jacob, each wound Id given Edward, stacked up into neat piles that I could not ignore or deny. And I realized that Id been wrong all along about the magnets. It had not been Edward and Jacob that Id been trying to force together, it was the two parts of myself, Edwards Bella and Jacobs Bella. But they could not exist together, and I never should have tried.Id done so much damage. At some point in the night, I remembered the promise Id made to myself untimely this morning that I would never make Edward see me shed another tear for Jacob Black. The thought brought on a round of hysteria which frightened Edward more than the weeping. But it passed, too, when it had run its course. Edward said little he just held me on the bed and let me ruin his shirt, staining it with salt water. It took longer than I thought it would for that smaller, broken part of me to cry herself out. It happened, though, and I was eventually exhausted enough to sleep. Unconsciousness did not bring full relief from the pain, just a numbing, dulling ease, deal medicine. Made it more bearable. But it was still there I was aware of it, even asleep, and that helped me to make the adjustments I needed to make. The morning brought with it, if not a brighter outlook, as to the lowest degree a measure of control, some acceptance.Instinctively, I knew that the new tear in my heart would always ache. That was just going to be a part of me now. Time would make it easier thats what everyone always said. But I didnt care if time healed me or not, so long as Jacob could get better. Could be riant again. When I woke up, there was no disorientation. I opened my eyes finally dry and met his anxious gaze.Hey, I said. My voice was hoarse. I cleared my throat. He didn t answer. He watched me, waiting for it to start. No, Im fine, I promised. That wont happen again. His eyes tightened at my words.Im sorry that you had to see that, I said. That wasnt fair to you.He fix up his hands on either side of my face.Bella . . . are you sure? Did you make the right choice? Ive never seen you in so much pain - His voice broke on the last word. But I had experiencen worse pain.I touched his lips. Yes.I dont accredit. . . . His brow creased. If it hurts you so much, how can it possibly be the right thing for you?Edward, I spang who I cant live without. But . . .I shook my head. You dont understand. You may be brave enough or strong enough to live without me, if thats whats best. But I could never be that self-sacrificing. I have to be with you. Its the only way I can live.He still looked dubious. I should never have let him stay with me last night. But I had needed him so much. . . .Hand me that book, will you? I asked, pointing over his shoulder. His eyebrows p ulled together in confusion, but he gave it to me quickly. This again? he asked.I just extremityed to find this one part I remembered . . . to see how she said it. . . . I flipped through the book, finding the page I wanted easily. The corner was dog-eared from the many times Id stopped here. Cathys a monster, but there were a few things she got right, I muttered. I read the lines quietly, in general to myself. If all else perished, and he remained, I should still continue to be and ifall else remained, and he were annihilated, the universe would turn to a capabilityy stranger. I nodded, again to myself. I know exactly what she means. And I know who I cant live without.Edward took the book from my hands and flipped it across the room it landed with a light thud on my desk. He wrapped his arms around my waist.A small smile lit his perfect face, though worry still lined his forehead. Heathcliff had his moments, too, he said. He didnt need the book to get it word perfect. He pulled me closer and whispered inmy ear, I cannot live without my life I cannot live without my soulYes, I said quietly. Thats my point.Bella, I cant stand for you to be miserable. Maybe . . .No, Edward. Ive made a real mess of things, and Im going to have to live with that. But I know what I want and what I need . . . and what Im going to do now. What are we going to do now?I smiled just a bit at his correction, and then I sighed. We are going to go see Alice.Alice was on the bottom porch step, too hyper to wait for us inside. She looked about to break into a celebration dance, so elicit was she about the news she knew I was there to deliver.Thank you, Bella she sang as we got out of the truck.Hold it, Alice, I warned her, lifting a hand up to halt her glee. Ive got a few limitations for you.I know, I know, I know. I only have until August thirteenth at the latest, you have veto power on the client list, and if I go overboard on anything, youll never speak to me again.Oh, okay. Well, yea h. You know the rules, then.Dont worry, Bella, it will be perfect. Do you want to see your habilitate?I had to take a few deep breaths. Whatever makes her happy, I said to myself.Sure.Alices smile was smug.Um, Alice, I said, keeping the casual, unruffled tone in my voice. When did you get me a overdress? It probably wasnt much of a show. Edward squeezed my hand.Alice led the way inside, heading for the stairs. These things take time, Bella, Alice let offed. Her tone seemed . . . evasive. I mean, I wasnt sure things were going to turn out this way, but there was a distinct possibility. . . .When? I asked again.Perrine Bruyere has a waiting list, you know, she said, defensive now. Fabric masterpieces dont happen overnight. If I hadnt thought ahead, youd be wearing something off the standstillIt didnt look same(p) I was going to get a straight answer. Per who?Hes not a major designer, Bella, so theres no need to throw a hissy fit. Hes got promise, though, and he specializes in wha t I needed.Im not throwing a fit.No, youre not. She eyed my calm face suspiciously. Then, as we walked into her room, she turned on Edward. You out. Why? I demanded.Bella, she groaned. You know the rules. Hes not supposed to see the dress till the day of.I took another deep breath. It doesnt matter to me. And you know hes already seen it in your head. But if thats how you want it. . . .She shoved Edward backrest out the door. He didnt even look at her his eyes were on me, wary, afraid to leave me alone.I nodded, hoping my expression was tranquil enough to reassure him.Alice fill up the door in his face. All right she muttered. Cmon. She grabbed my wrist and towed me to her closet which was bigger than my bedroom and then dragged me to the back corner, where a long white garment home had a rack all to itself. She unzipped the bag in one sweeping movement, and then slipped it carefully off the hanger. She took a step back, holding her hand out to the dress like she was a game show h ostess.Well? she asked breathlessly.I appraised it for a long moment, playing with her a bit. Her expression turned worried.Ah, I said, and I smiled, letting her relax. I see. What do you telephone? she demanded. It was my Anne of Green Gables vision all over again. Its perfect, of course. Exactly right. Youre a genius. She grinned. I know.Nineteen-eighteen? I guessed.More or less, she said, nodding. Some of it is my design, the train, the veil. . . . She touched the white satin as she spoke. The lace is vintage. Do you like it?Its beautiful. Its just right for him.But is it just right for you? she insisted.Yes, I think it is, Alice. I think its just what I need. I know youll do a great job with this . . . if you can keep yourself in check. She beamed. Can I see your dress? I asked. She blinked, her face blank.Didnt you order your bridesmaid dress at the same time? I wouldnt want my maid of honor to wear something off the rack. I pretended to wince in horror. She threw her arms around my w aist. Thank you, BellaHow could you not see that one coming? I teased, kissing her spiky hair. Some psychic you areAlice danced back, and her face was bright with fresh enthusiasm. Ive got so much to do Go play with Edward. I have to get to work. She dashed out of the room, yelling, Esme as she disappeared.I followed at my own pace. Edward was waiting for me in the hallway, leaning against the wood-paneled wall. That was very, very nice of you, he told me.She seems happy, I agreed. He touched my face his eyes too dark, it had been so long since hed left me searched my expression minutely.Lets get out of here, he suddenly suggested. Lets go to our meadow. It sounded very appealing. I guess I dont have to hide out anymore, do I?No. The danger is behind us.He was quiet, thoughtful, as he ran. The wind blew on my face, warmer now that the storm had really passed. The clouds covered the sky, the way they usually did.The meadow was a peaceful, happy place today. Patches of summer daisies i nterrupted the grass with splashes of white and yellow. I lay back, ignoring the slight moistness of the ground, and looked for pictures in the clouds. They were too even, too smooth. No pictures, just a soft, gray blanket.Edward lay next to me and held my hand.August thirteenth? he asked casually after a few minutes of comfortable silence. That gives me a month till my birthday. I didnt want to cut it too close. He sighed. Esme is three years older than Carlisle technically. Did you know that?I shook my head.It hasnt made any difference to them.My voice was serene, a counterpoint to his anxiety. My age is not really that important. Edward, Im ready. Ive chosen my life now I want to start living it.He stroked my hair. The guest list veto?I dont care really, but I . . . I hesitated, not wanting to explain this one. Best to get it over with. Im not sure if Alice would feel the need to invite . . . a few werewolves. I dont know if . . . Jake would feel like . . . like he should come. Like thats the right thing to do, or that Id get my feelings hurt if he didnt. He shouldnt have to go through that.Edward was quiet for a minute. I stared at the tips of the treetops, almost black against the light gray of the sky.Suddenly, Edward grabbed me around the waist and pulled me onto his chest.Tell me why youre doing this, Bella. Why did you decide, now, to give Alice free reign?I retell for him the conversation I had with Charlie last night before Id gone to see Jacob. It wouldnt be fair to keep Charlie out of this, I concluded. And that means Rene and Phil. I might as well let Alice have her fun, too. Maybe itwill make the whole thing easier for Charlie if he gets his proper goodbye. Even if he thinks its much too early, I wouldnt want to cheat him out of the chance to walk me down the aisle. I grimaced at the words, then took another deep breath. At least my mom and pa and my friends will know the best part of my choice, the most Im allowed to tell them. Theyll know I chose you, and theyll know were together. Theyll know Im happy, wherever I am. I think thats the best I can do for them.Edward held my face, searching it for a brief time.Deals off, he said abruptly. What? I gasped. Youre backing out? NoIm not backing out, Bella. Ill still keep my side of the bargain. But youre off the hook. Whatever you want, no strings attached. Why?Bella, I see what youre doing. Youre trying to make everyone else happy. And I dont care about anyone elses feelings. I only need you to be happy. Dont worry about breaking the news to Alice. Ill take care of it. I promise she wont make you feel guilty. But I -No. Were doing this your way. Because my way doesnt work. I call you stubborn, but look at what Ive done. Ive clung with such idiotic obstinacy to my idea of whats best for you, though its only hurt you. Hurt you so deeply, time and time again. I dont trust myself anymore. You can have happiness your way. My way is always wrong. So. He shifted under me, squaring his shoulders. Were doing it your way, Bella. Tonight. Today. The sooner the better. Ill speak to Carlisle. I was thinking that maybe if we gave you enough morphine, it wouldnt be so bad. Its worth a try. He gritted his teeth.Edward, no -He put his finger to my lips. Dont worry, Bella, love. I havent forgotten the rest of your demands. His hands were in my hair, his lips moving softly but very seriously against mine, before I realized what he was saying. What he was doing. There wasnt much time to act. If I waited too long, I wouldnt be able to remember why I needed to stop him. Already, I couldnt breathe right. My hands were gripping his arms, pulling myself tighter to him, my blab out glued to his and answering every unspoken question his asked.I tried to clear my head, to find a way to speak. He rolled gently, pressing me into the cool grass.Oh, never mind my less noble side exulted. My head was full of the sweetness of his breath. No, no, no, I argued with myself. I shook my head, a nd his mouth moved to my neck, giving me a chance to breathe.Stop, Edward. Wait. My voice was as weak as my will. Why? he whispered into the hollow of my throat.I labored to put some resolve into my tone. I dont want to do this now.Dont you? he asked, a smile in his voice. He moved his lips back to mine and made speaking impossible. Heat coursed through my veins, burning where my skin touched his.I made myself focus. It took a great deal of effort just to force my hands to free themselves from his hair, to move them to his chest. But I did it. And then I shoved against him, trying to push him away. I could not succeed alone, but he responded as I knew he would. He pulled back a few inches to look at me, and his eyes did nothing to help my resolve. They were black fire. They smoldered. Why? he asked again, his voice low and rough. I love you. I want you. Right now.The butterflies in my stomach flooded my throat. He took advantage of my speechlessness.Wait, wait, I tried to say around hi s lips. Not for me, he murmured in disagreement. Please? I gasped. He groaned, and pushed himself away from me, rolling onto his back again. We both lay there for a minute, trying to slow our breathing.Tell me why not, Bella, he demanded. This had better not be about me.Everything in my world was about him. What a silly thing to expect.Edward, this is very important to me. I am going to do this right.Whos definition of right?Mine. He rolled onto his elbow and stared at me, his expression disapproving. How are you going to do this right?I took a deep breath. Responsibly. Everything in the right order. I will not leave Charlie and Rene without the best resolution I can give them. I wont deny Alice her fun, if Im having a wedding anyway. And I will tie myself to you in every human way, before I ask you to make me immortal. Im following all the rules, Edward. Your soul is far-off, far too important to me to take chances with. Youre not going to budge me on this.Ill bet I could, he murmured, his eyes burning again. But you wouldnt, I said, trying to keep my voice level. Not knowing that this is what I really need. You dont fight fair, he accused.I grinned at him. Never said I did.He smiled back, wistful. If you adjustment your mind . . .Youll be the first to know, I promised. The rain started to drip through the clouds just then, a few scattered drops that made faint thuds as they smitten the grass.I glowered at the sky.Ill get you home. He brushed the tiny beads of water from my cheeks.Rains not the problem, I grumbled. It just means that its time to go do something that will be very unpleasant and possibly even highly dangerous. His eyes widened in alarm. Its a good thing youre bulletproof. I sighed. Im going to need that ring. Its time to tell Charlie. He laughed at the expression on my face. Highly dangerous, he agreed. He laughed again and then reached into the pocket of his jeans. But as least theres no need for a side trip.He once again slid my ring into place on the third finger of my left hand.Where it would stay conceivably for the rest of eternity.

Human char make a motioner is The general psychological characteristics, feelings, and behavioural traits of homophilekind, regarded as sh atomic number 18d by all humans. * Crash directed by Paul Haggis presents to us an intertwining story set within the streets of LA, confirming and challenging racial stereotypes and at the same time reflecting the ever existing good and dark side of human nature.Human nature drives us all to view the other as bad, evil and untrustworthy, it is thickening and every man, despite differences holds the underlying set buried duncish into our subconsciousness * In the postulate crash, Haggis has successfully portrayed the truth about human nature through the gatherings of talk, tv camera shot and symbolism, confusing us as viewers, scarce also giving us an intruging insight into the reality of each and every 1 of us despite differences in race and background. * Haggis has successfully evoked feelings of uneasiness, confusion, angriness and em pathy at through the making of the film crashHuman nature drives us to fear the unknown, the other in our eyes is seen as evil and that we should control a substance from any communication. It may be in relation to race, ethnicity, age, gender or beliefs but in reality each one of us does not have the ability to fight this automatic discrimination against those who ar different. * Haggis has successfully reflected this dark aspect of human nature through the convention of dialogue. * In one scene a Persian man is attempting to purchase a gun from a white American. The salesman calls the man osama and then continues to talk about 9/11, he then is aggressively told to leave the shop. * The white American man displays his fear of the other by racially discriminating him through his dialogue, he has his own racist, unimaginative image of this man in his mind automatically relating him to 9/11 and due to his human nature sees him as the other and as untrustworthy to be in his shop tell ing him he has no right to buy a gun here * In another scene a Hispanic locksmith is changing a white American couples locks on their door after their car had been hijacked. The American cleaning woman makes assumptions that this locksmith is going to sell their key to his homies purely because of the way he looks and his race and demands to get her locks changed again in the morning. * The American woman views the locksmith as the other and due to her human nature she fears him, and does not trust him to be in her house. Her judgement is not on personality or individual traits it is based upon the automatic assumptions she makes about him due to his tattoos, dress sense and skin colour. shortsighted does she know that the Hispanic locksmith was in many eyes the only character in crash seen as completely innocent, but due to her ignorance she believed the opposite. * Through dialogue Haggis has successfully positioned the viewer to feel anger at both of these scenarios and causes us to question our own human nature and our own classification of the other. We are positioned to feel guilt as we feel partly responsible for these racial stereotypes as we too, through our human nature, instinctively stick to our own.Human nature is complex, values at polar opposites could exsist in the same man, particular beliefs could be compromised and in reality no one can ever truly understand the fulfilment of complexities embedded within each person. * Racsim and nobility can exsist in the same man. Haggis has successfully portrayed this idea of human nature through the narrative conventions of camera shot and dialogue. * In one scene a cop pulls over a black couple, he abuses his power and shows extreme racial discrimination seen through the convention of unkept camera angle while he molests her.In another scene the same cop shows nobility while is seen rescuing the same black woman he molested, he ironically says things to her such as im not going to hurt you * The came ra angle in the first scene is a panning low angle displaying the police officers come about stroking up the womans leg, emphasizing his sickening racist actions. In the second scene the camera angle is a completion camera angle focusing on his remorseful worrying facial expression. The shot of the hand in the first scene could represent a mans hand where the shot of his face in the second scene presents him, and therefore suggests that although his racism and dark side of his human nature exsists the good side of his human nature is a representation of his true identity and we begin to question the reasons behind his actions. * These two scenes In the movie crash display to us that humans are extremely complex.A man can live a life full of sin but then commit a noble act just as a man can be a criminal but then save a life. * The concept of human complexities is sonorous to grasp, an individuals identity can determine why they act a certain way or do certain things. The cop in th e film displayed racism due to the fact that a black woman would not help his sick father, but does this excuse particular values and behaviours? * Through the convention of camera angle Haggis has effectively positioned the viewer to feel both disgust and awe at the same man.We begin to question what drives humans to be so complex and we wonder whether it is ever possible for a man to be seen as completely innocent. * Instinctively human natures drives us to protect and stick to our own, just as we repel those who are seen as different. * This universal value embedded inside each and every human is represented by Paul Haggis in the film crash through utlising the narrative convention of symbolism. * Crash follows the story of a Hispanic locksmith and unconditional love of his

Chattanooga Ice Cream
New pedagogy for Chattanooga Ice Cream Clint A. Stockton knuckleb stars Welch Management Institute Dr. Denis Tocci JWMI 510 11/16/2013 Chattanooga Ice Cream Case The Chattanooga Ice Cream case shows a decline in sales for 5 conse disasterive years. The Division is headed by Charles Moore. Although Charles Moore was successful in direct teams he seemed to have major issues with this team of vice presidents. According to the Harvard course Review Chattanooga Ice Cream Case the team was very dysfunctional they exhibited a lack of trust, high in conflict, disrespectful of each ther and exhibited dodge issues with accountability.Team members seemed to always lay blame to other member. Moore needs to be more assertive in dismissing the ways of the past and the loss of Stay & Shop worry needs to be put aside. Moore needs to give clear direction and assign responsibilities to each team member. Moore needs to convey that team cohesiveness is a must and this will go a long way to help en sure no further loss of business. This paper will examine how Moores leading approach contributed to the teams dysfunction, discuss what the roup of employees themselves could do to better understand the perspectives of each other and their boss as well as make recommendations about Moore should do now to help his team work together and manage conflicts more readyively. Charlies Leadership Style In assessing where Charlie Moore goes wrong, its important to look at his leadership style. According to the platter style, Charlie is a Steady (S) Leader. Specific in ally, this means Charlie operates at a methodical pace and sames leading in an orderly environment. He whitethorn readily view leading in a fast-paced environment as intimidating or stressful. His leadership style is collaborative in nature and he values gathering efforts. Charlie is a cautious leader that seldom leads by authority as he is comfortable working behind the consensus of the group as he doesnt like making de cisions alone. He is demotivated by competitive environments and changing direction abruptly. He enjoys leading in a harmonic environment with little or no confrontations or conflict.Leaders prepare the organizations for falsify Charlie does not build trust nor align his people. Lack of Leadership As a leader Charlie needs to prepare organizations for change and help them ope as they struggle through it (Week 2, Lecture 2). The first evidence of Charlies offendure as a leader is when he calls the group together to get the news about losing their major customer. The mood is somber as Charlie calls the group together to mourn (Sloane, The Chattanooga Ice Cream Division, HBR, p. l) and to fgure out what needs to be done about it.As a leader he must exude a sense of positive energy Cack Welch, Winning, p. 84) to prepare his people to act and energize their stovepipe thinking to deal with this challenge. His style of (S) may not like change, but e needs to set a tone of optimism and decisiveness that says that they will go in through this challenge successfully. First of all, Moore should master self-leadership for himself. Then encourage and model it for others on the team. Manz indicates that Leaders facilitate employee self-set goals and reward effective self-leadership when it does occur.Overall, they create and nurture systems that cease teamwork and a holistic self-leadership culture to flourish (Charles Manz, 2001 , Leading Others to Lead Themselves, p. 221). I believe that Charlie and Charlies team would benefit from earning about their own leadership style by taking the Disc and TKI assessments and possibly creating smaller strategically opposeed teams within the group to come up with a foundation and vision for the direction in which the alliance should go as a whole.Lack of Candor Another example of where Charlie goes wrong is that he doesnt develop an environment of trust where his people dont hold behind even though he may not like conflict. As an example of this, Charlie has several meetings to ask his team what their thoughts are about how to compete. When you are an man-to-man contributor, ou try to have all the answers. Thats your Job-to be an expert, the best at what you do, maybe even the smartest person in the room. When you are a leader, your Job is to have all the questionsQuestioning, however, is never enough, following Rule 6 Leaders probe with curiosity that borders on skepticism, making sure your questions unleash debate and raise issues that get meet (Welch, 2005, p. 74). Moore should first create an intentional communication strategy. His management team must understand and support a common vision with a common purpose. This requires clarity. lucidness begins with effective communication. He should make sure communication from his management team reaches all employees. The article by Ferrazzi (Harvard Business Review) indicates three specific techniques, developed from the authors research, which send word help coworkers collaborate and interact more effectively. The techniques, which are based on creating trust that allows team members to speak candidly, are dividing meetings into smaller groups, naming a ingenuousness advocate, and teaching how to give and receive feedback with a positive attitude (Ferrazzi, 2012, Candor, Criticism, and Teamwork, p. 0). Team Dysfunctions The Chattanooga Ice Cream team is dysfunctional for several reasons. Some of those reasons include an absence seizure of trust, avoidance, and not being accountable. Also, there is a lack of commitment amongst some managers. Moore is also looking for buy-in from all members for group decisions. There was no clear cut rule as to how decisions were going to be made. Simply put, Charles Moore failed to incorporate clear operating rules. Week Four 4 Lecture Building High implementation Teams suggests that when managers agree on ground rules in advance, the team is uch more likely to run efficiently, this is espe cially true with the Chattanooga Ice Cream team.According to Rick Johnson, Charlie could gainsay is management team ask for solutions, assigning both responsibility and empowerment accordingly to utilize individual skills. Ownership of ideas and initiatives builds commitment. Involving the team in creating direction and solutions through empowerment generates commitment to the tasks necessary to meet objectives. A way to get over the major loss of a client and overshadow the mourning effect would be to hallenge the management team to collectively bring in a new client or a few clients that could equal the departure of the one loss, in terms of volume. Also, Moore should create offsite team-building activities on a quarterly basis. The gatherings/ outings should be used to build unification and trust in each other. New Direction for Charles seems to want to be Just another member of the team, an individual contributor, wanting to give his part instead of asking the explicit result-dr iven questions required of him in his leadership role. Welch, goes on to say, But thats he Job. You want bigger solutions ask questions healthy debate, decisions, and actions will get everyone there (p. 76).There is nowhere to go, if there is no one to lead. The dysfunctions of the team lie with the dysfunctions of the leader and no directions. Regardless of making the wrong or right decision, in regards to the CICC case, if no action is taken, then the company will fail for sure. As a Business Development Executive, I would tend to push the team to research and target other clients to fill the void left by the client lost, eliminating the somberness, creating otivation to accomplish a new goal, and strengthen the team by focusing efforts into one vision. He should run his team through assessments that could help him strategically pair individual weaknesses and strengths together, not only to complement each other going forward but to build credibility as a leader and mark to build a foundation for candor, voice, and dignity going forward. Gaining new clients would most likely cost additional funds in the research and marketing and may cause little investment growth up front however stabilizing the vision with a decision is aking the correct effort to save this company under the current circumstances.
